Obama’s First Presidential Overseas Phone Call Globe and
Mail - Canada January 21,
2009 JERUSALEM — U.S. President Barack Obama's first full
day in office certainly made a big impression on some people. His first
action – the suspension of the Guantanamo system for alleged Islamic
terrorists – caught the attention of Muslims around the world. And his first
overseas telephone call, to Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas,
stunned Palestinians and many Israelis as well. “We were not expecting such a quick call from
President Obama, but we knew how serious he is about the Palestinian
problem,” said a very excited Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior adviser to Mr.
Abbas. (Read More) The World Celebrates America’s

several reports suggesting international human rights groups are in the
process of gathering evidence in the form of photos and testimonials, with
the intent of filing suits both with the International Court of Justice (ICJ)
in The Hague and in local European courts. (Read More) Livni's Belgium Trip Almost

the operation in Gaza," said Attorney General Menachem Mazuz Sunday. "That in
itself is nothing new. I can only assume that following the events, we will

stressed that the Judge Advocate General was involved in the authorization
process of every strike in Operation Cast Lead, but that the final decision was
still at the hands of the IDF. (Read More) US Accused of Killing 25 Afghan
